"Aesthetics"

I think the internet places a lot of importance on personal identity. On Neocities, I've seen many scoff at the idea of using pre-made templates or taking inspiration, because this is THE creative site! ...Probably.
The constant hunt for something to set yourself apart from others usually results in something vapid, to be quite honest and a little bit mean. Nothing wrong with following whatever new aethetic is big on the 'net, but I do wonder how many of these people will keep enjoying it after the trend is over, or if they will just move onto the next big thing.
A personal "aesthetic" comes with time, and changes over the years, and shifts and morphs into something new as you grow and make new experiences. I've always loved nature, more than anything else, but to come to my love for green I've had to wait a while! I am certain that soon enough I will grow tired of this layout, too.
I do not try hiding the artists that inspire me. scpkid, fourleafisland, pod, Cosmo Sheldrake too - their love for their craft and for the world has kept me going and led me to making the choice of dedicating my online presence to my passion towards the animal kingdom. You might even notice some tidbits inspired by their sites that I didn't!
I don't think I am going anywhere with this. Just... Try new things! Find something you really like, and look into it, research, and you'll be far happier than trying to force it to appease to the "cool" Neocities users - I assure you they started out copying someone else too.
